Membership Categories

UPCEA is an institutional membership organization. Its membership is composed of regionally accredited, degree-granting colleges and universities. Individuals at member institutions are eligible to join the Association under the institutional membership.  Membership dues are based on the institution’s Carnegie Classification and total enrollment.

Institutional Membership

Institutional membership applies to regionally-accredited, degree-granting colleges and universities.  Dues are based on the institution’s Carnegie Classification and enrollment.  Institutional membership includes:
  • 1 professional membership for the institution’s official representative, who receives all mailings of the Association and participates in the business meetings and elections of the Association on behalf of the institution.
  • 1 professional membership for the institutional alternate representative.
  • Set number of professional memberships (ranging 8-28) based on membership category.
     

Corporate Membership

Corporate membership is available to business entities that provide goods and services within the higher education sector, consistent with UPCEA’s mission to “advance leadership in professional, continuing, and online education.” Corporate membership includes:
  • 1 professional membership for the company's official representative, who receives all mailings of the Association on behalf of the company.
  • 1 professional membership for the institutional alternate representative.
  • Set number of professional memberships (4,6, or 8) based on number of employees.

System Office:
Membership is available to System Offices for regionally-accredited, degree-granting college and universities. Dues are $2,800 annually. Membership includes:
  • 1 professional membership for the institution’s official representative, who receives all mailings of the Association.
  • 1 professional membership for the institution’s alternate representative.
  • 14 additional professional memberships.

*Non-Profit Affiliate:
Affiliate status is available to colleges and universities outside the United States, and to non-profit organizations with an interest or current activities in the field of continuing higher education.  Affiliate status is also available to satellite campuses (often listed as an “additional location” for accrediting purposes) of a regionally accredited institution when the campus is separately accredited because its location is beyond the boundaries of the principal regional accrediting body.  (Note: Most of these out-of-region campuses may have alternative accreditation but do not possess independent budget or decision-making authority from the home university or umbrella corporation) Dues are $980 annually. Membership includes:
  • 1 professional membership for the organization’s official representative, who receives all mailings of the Association.
  • 1 professional membership for the organization’s alternate representative.
  • 8 additional professional memberships.
     
*For-Profit Affiliate:
Affiliate status is also available to satellite campuses (often listed as an “additional location” for accrediting purposes) of a regionally accredited institution when the campus is separately accredited because its location is beyond the boundaries of the principal regional accrediting body.  (Note: Most of these out-of-region campuses may have alternative accreditation but do not possess independent budget or decision-making authority from the home university or umbrella corporation).   Dues are $1470 annually for each satellite campus. Membership includes:
  • 1 professional membership for the organization’s official representative, who receives all mailings of the Association.
  • 1 professional membership for the organization’s alternate representative.
  • 8 additional professional memberships.

eDesign Collaborative:
The eDesign Collaborative serves higher education instructional design teams (instructional designers, multimedia developers and team administrators) in higher education seeking networking and professional development. Participation in the eDesign Collaborative provides access to a community of professionals who are interested in best practices for online course creation. Please note: Individual memberships are not intended for deans, vice presidents/provosts, top-level directors of continuing education and online learning programs, or third party vendors.

*Emeritus:
Membership available to retired individuals who were formerly employed by a UPCEA member institution. Dues are $65 annually.
 
*Transitional:
Membership available to an Individual who recently left employment at a member institution and is seeking a position in the field. Dues are $65 annually.
